Summer time is coming and it’s time to start thinking about taking care of your feet. This area of your body can sometimes be neglected, simply because there are other areas that you will want to pay more attention to, such as your legs for those skirts and shorts you are planning on wearing, arms for the strappy tops and vests, chest for those cleavage-baring dresses… all in all, it can seem like feet were at the bottom of the worry-pile, but if you want to accessorize your summer outfits with summer footwear, you are going to have to start taking action.
What is worse than a bunion poking through your strappy sandals, or hard skin noticeable on the back of your heels in those flip flops? However with a little bit of tender loving care and some time taken on your part, you will soon have beautiful summer ready feet that you will be proud of.

Wear the right sized shoes!
So many women wear ill-fitting shoes because they look good, and this is where many of the feet problems come from. Those pointed numbers that you love to rock, well they can give you funny-shaped toes, and with repeated years of wearing them, can leave your toes in a shape that is unlike any other. The same goes for trying to squeeze your feet into shoes that are too small – they might look good now, but in a few years time, once you have decided to hang up your party heels and rock out those flip flops, you are likely to suffer with bunions, very obvious veins, and even bad toe nails or corns. If you take just one step to bettering your feet, it should definitely be to get your feet professionally measured and to start wearing the right shoes!
Don’t neglect your feet!
When you get out of the shower or bath, do your moisturize your feet? How about when you get into bed at night – you moisturize your face, hands, and other areas of your body; why would you forget about your feet? Things like hard skin can easily be reversed with some moisturizing from a good skin-softening cream; a product that you can easily get your hands on if you know where to look. A good pumice stone session from time to time probably wouldn’t go amiss either! Neglecting your feet now will lead to many more problems later on in life, and it only takes a few moments out of your day to ensure that your feet are treated with the same love and respect that the rest of your body does. After all, your feet take as much of a beating, if not more, as your hands, face and other areas.

The barefoot no-no!
A lot of us go barefoot in the summer, and although the feeling of fresh grass may feel great between your toes, you could actually be doing yourself more harm than good. You never really know what might be lurking in the ground beneath you, whether it is the lawn outside your home, or the floor in the local pool. The pool, and other public areas, are the perfect place for fungal infections and warts to grow, and if you are running around outside with nothing on your feet, you could tread on something like glass that could cut your feet and lead to infections, or even things such as dog droppings and worse! It takes just a few seconds to throw on a pair of flip flops and be on your way; regardless of whatever it is you are doing, and you could be saving yourself a mass of problems later on in life.
In conclusion, you should treat your feet in much the same way as you would treat the rest of your body. You wouldn’t neglect your hands or your face, so don’t neglect to take care of your feet. Dry them properly after showers or baths, use a moisturizer, give them a pedicure from time to time, and generally, just remember that they are what gets you through your day – without them, you would be in a sticky situation indeed!
