It’s summer time ladies and this can only mean one thing – it’s time to panic! Our legs are still covered with the hair that we allowed to accumulate over the winter time. Our skin looks like it has not seen the sun in decades. Our legs and thighs are so dimpled because of our hibernation binge eating sessions during winter holidays and winter menus. With problems like this, how on earth are we meant to squeeze ourselves into teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikinis?
Cellulite is a skin problem
The thing that most women do not actually realize, and some men for that matter, is that cellulite is a problem with the skin on the body, and not the fat! There are so many people out there that link cellulite to fat, and at the same time, people resort to eating less in a bid to lose the dimples orange-peel looking skin, when in actual fact, they should be looking at things like exfoliating brushes and a good moisturizer! These two things alone can conquer around twenty percent of the cellulite problem, and the other eighty is going to be down to your diet. This means sorting it out, not just eating less!
Three stages of cellulite
There are three main stages of cellulite – aqueous cellulite that is formed when the dimples are only really visible when the skin is pinched in between the fingers. Then we come to the fatty cellulite stage, where the dimples are seen without a pinching of the fingers being needed, and the skin actually feels like orange peel, rather than just looking like it. The final stage of cellulite, and the one where it could be too late, is the fibrous stage – fluid retention can lead to this, and it is going to be much harder to treat, much more visible to the eyes, and can even prove to be painful in some cases.
What you can do
Thankfully, at the beginning of your cellulite journey, you can still things to get rid of it. You are going to want to increase your water intake to flush out toxins and to ensure that your skin is kept perfectly hydrated. You should also eat plenty of raw vegetables and fruits to make sure that the skin has all of the vitamins it needs in order to be healthy, as well as hydrated. You could also try looking for products that are specifically designed for the early stages of cellulite, especially those that contain the ingredient called cayenne pepper; something that has been shown in many cases to actually help to improve the circulation of the blood.
Moving on to the more serious stage of the cellulite quest, we come to a part that is going to need a little bit more in the form of ingredients to help fight the battle. Lecithin is something that you are going to want to increase in the body, found easily in foods such as oranges, soy, eggs and spinach. This lecithin actually helps the skin by helping it to rebuild itself and the cell walls, and also keeping skin hydrated. Try combining this with the water-based solutions to the early stages of cellulite.
