Facial Exercises – Nonsurgical Facelift

Performing these facial exercises just a few times a week is a great way to escape both – signs of aging and plastic surgeon.

You probably already noticed that professional body builders and ballet dancers maintain wonderful youthful bodies well into the old age – the result of continuous training and exercises. As they age, their faces become in stark contrast to their bodies. But why don’t their faces look as young as their bodies? The answer is not hard to find – they never exercised their faces, only their bodies.

Your facial musculature and the subcutaneous tissue directly under the skin supply the basic support for your facial beauty. Facial muscles and facial skin are closely connected, so the skin is able to follow every movement of the muscles. When facial muscles loose their strength, it appears on the condition of your skin.

The same is true for subcutaneous tissue, which gives skin its elasticity and smoothness of appearance. Skin loses its elasticity when the volume of tissue fibre decreases. This is what happens during the process of aging – facial musculature and subcutaneous tissue decrease in volume. But by undertaking exercise program of the facial musculature you can slow down the aging process and even reverse its effects that already took place (totally or partially).

Facial exercises for targeted areas, also known as ‘facebuilding’, will increase volume of facial musculature and tissue fibre and improve their tone. Weak facial muscles that became like overstretched rubber bands will regain their health and tone. The muscles that are still healthy will be saved from degeneration.

The results will be visible after two or three months of daily five to ten minute exercises. Not a quick solution, but you might look ten to fifteen years younger without expenses and risks of plastic surgery.

Additional benefit of facial exercises is that they increase blood flow to the face, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, stimulating synthesis of collagen (see Tips for Collagen Stimulation). Also the cleansing process and ability of the skin to absorb moisture are improved. All these are a sure guarantee for a clear and healthy skin.

Here are the advantages of facial exercises:

– It is a nonsurgical facelift where loose skin is lifted. It looks firm and youthful again.

– Your skin becomes more elastic – now it can cover facial musculature firmly and tightly, smoothing out wrinkles and crows’ feet.

– Your skin is nourished, your pores are unclogged. It also absorbs the moisture better than before, which increases and strengthens fibre of the connective tissues. The skin looks firmer and pores are decreased.

You will find the description of facial exercises below this article. There is no need to do all the exercises every day. All you have to do is to pick five to six exercises for your problem zones. Every exercise must be performed with the maximum tension, which should be held for at least six seconds. This tension is unlikely to be very high in the beginning and will increase from week to week. In all cases you have to do your maximum for exercises to be effective.

Facial exercises have to be performed at least five times a week. Do each exercise five times for the first two weeks. Every two weeks increase by five repetitions until you reach twenty repetitions. The interval between repetitions should be no more than one second. After the results have been obtained, you still have to continue facial exercises two-three times per week. Placing fingers on the folds in the area that is exercised prevents formation of artificial folds and wrinkles. Place your fingers on the fold lightly, but do not stretch or pull the skin.
