Yesterday I came across this image on Pinterest.
The image was quite popular, had many re-pins and many likes. To be honest, I love how it looks on this picture, but still think it’s one of the most common eye makeup mistakes women do. And this is a type of mistake that even professional makeup artists do. So what’s wrong with this eye makeup?
My issue with it is that while it looks so gorgeous when you look at it close, it will look absolutely ridiculous from the distance of a few meters, which is how most people see you. Eye shadow is perfectly black and the model is quite pale, this contrast will not work for her in real life. She will look scary, like a ghost. This could work if she had a darker skin tone, but for someone with pale white skin this will never work.
Whenever you do makeup or trust someone to do your makeup remember these two important rules:
1. Most people see you from the distance of 2-3 meters (6-9 feet), so every now and then step back and look at yourself from this distance to evaluate your overall look.
2. You should NOT match your eye liners and eye shadows to your hair color. Instead, you should consider your skin and eye color.
Some women with gray hair think they should use gray eye shadows and gray eye liners and it’s just aging! Not every redhead needs green and not every blonde needs gold. Evaluate your skin and eye color, then decide what to use.
