Most overweight people blame their pounds on sluggish digestion. It’s not to say that this isn’t true, but you need at least some sort of proof that your digestion is sluggish, otherwise you might be looking for solutions in wrong places or, even worse, you might assume there isn’t anything you can do about your weight.
According to Dr. Frank Lipman there is a quick and easy way to find out the state of your digestion. What you need to do is to measure your waist in the morning before you eat and then another time in the evening. If there is more than three inches difference, you might be indeed suffering from sluggish digestion.
What to do?
Now that you have an official proof, what do you do?
Probiotics.
First, consider probiotics. Probiotics help your digestive tract to run more efficiently. This change alone could help you lose a few pounds without doing much else. More on probiotics here »
Fish Oil
Second, consider taking fish oil. There is a theory that fish oil improves blood vessel function, increasing blood flow to exercising muscles. This means a more efficient fat metabolism and, ultimately, weight loss.
Hot spicy foods.
You can actually rev up your metabolism by eating. Nice, I hear you saying, but where is the catch? The catch is that you should eat hot spicy food such as mustard and hot peppers.
In one study, British researchers about three-fifths of a teaspoon of hot chili sauce or ordinary mustard to a meal. This resulted in increased metabolism, up to 25 percent increase, in fact. This translated into burning extra 45 calories during next three hours. How cool is that? Eat whatever you are eating, just add spices to it!
If you aren’t used to spicy food, don’t get discouraged. Start with lower quantities of spices and increase until you feel comfortable with that quantity and are actually enjoying your meal. Imagine you are a dragon and have fun with it!
