Many women feel bothered by under-eye bags as they typically make you look old and tired. While I personally don’t suffer from this problem, I can see how this can be an issue.
I made some research into this and, guess what, most of the time under-eye bags are the result of genetics. I know this doesn’t make you feel any better, but it’s crucial to understand what caused them in the first place to find an adequate solution. There can be many other reasons, including structural changes. In some women the ligaments that support fat pads around the eye may weaken with age, so protective fat layer literally slips and bulges forward. Yikes!
I also dug a little deeper and it turns out Ask Women Net has a very good article on all possible causes of under-eye bags and dark circles, it’s here. I don’t want to repeat what was already said in that article, but the strategy boils down to this: find what caused your under-eye bags (there could be so many reasons! For starters, read this article) and then work with an experienced dermatologist to develop a plan on how to get rid of this problem.
Solutions
Unless your under-eye bags are not really bags, but a superficial pigmentation, you basically have two options:
- surgery
- fillers
It’s less scary than it sounds, provided that surgery is a real permanent solution. Consider all time and money wasted on products that never worked and all frustration you have to go through every morning when applying eye makeup, it’s really not that bad at all. Corrective surgery can permanently remove the excess fat and skin, making your life way easier.
If you don’t feel good about surgery, consider fillers. This is not a permanent solution, but you might want to try it if you want to look good for a specific occasion, like wedding or a high school reunion. During this procedure the areas around the bags will be filled with Restylane or Perlane, bringing the recessed skin up to the same level as bags.
Thanks, but no thanks…
I understand. In this case make sure you keep your upper eyelid makeup clean for not emphasizing your under-eye bags. Smoky eyes makeup is probably not your thing. Go easy on concealer. Ironically, many women emphasize their skin problems when trying to conceal them. Don’t be one of them!
Last but not the least, it’s all about attitude. Hopefully you are old enough to realize that beauty doesn’t guarantee happiness and love. It’s your wonderful attitude and exciting personality that make you interesting and attractive. These are not just empty superficial words to make you feel better. I mean it.
