When I was younger I thought skin problems will gradually go away and all I had to do is just wait. Well, this doesn’t seem to be my case. Now I can boast even larger variety of skin conditions from acne to my very first wrinkles. I also have dry spots, large pores on my nose and puffy upper lids. The good thing, however, is I am very creative and have great research skills. Today I am going to share what helps me keep all these problems under control.
Large Pores Fix
If you have large pores on your nose, use a mattifying primer or a matte sunscreen
before applying a foundation. These products absorb oil and give your skin a cleaner finish.
Use a concealer brush in a patting motion when applying makeup to the sides of your nose.
Splotchy red skin
The experts advise to use yellow-toned moisturizers, such as sensual skin enhancer by Kevyn Aucoin (below) to fix this problem.
The reasoning behind this is that yellow counteracts redness and gives your skin a more even color.
Hormonal acne
Try using airbrush foundation. It’s the biggest secret of TV makeup artists. Spots, zits and redness virtually disappear!
Very thin skin
If you have a very thin, flaky, onion-like skin, choose a lightweight moisturizing foundation and apply it using a damp sponge. The moisture will dilute the foundation, which will help you get a smoother layer of foundation. This also prevents the sponge from soaking up excess foundation.
Puffy upper lids
Use chilled eye treatments that contain yeast or caffeine. These products work best when cold, so store them in the fridge. Cold will bring the swelling down faster and the ingredients will help tighten the skin.
Dark circles
Apply a tinted corrective eye concealer using a concealer brush (see above). Some concealers come in several colors. Choose rose-colored if your dark circles are brownish and orange or yellow colored if your circles are blue or purple. Long term, it is always helpful to figure out what causes your dark circles in the first place. This article is a good place to start.
