Beauty and Anti-aging Acupuncture – a New Twist to Ancient Practice

I don’t know about you, but to me the word acupuncture doesn’t sound as exotic as it once did. For those who don’t know, acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical system that involves stimulation of points on the body using various techniques, most commonly needles. Here is how acupuncture needles look…

Beauty and Anti-aging Acupuncture - a New Twist to Ancient PracticeChinese treatments are almost mainstream these days. Heck, even my husband sleeps on needles! Well, not exactly needles, but some plastic stuff that looks and feels like needles. It’s quite painful at first, but once you get used to you actually enjoy it. Here is how it looks…

Beauty and Anti-aging Acupuncture - a New Twist to Ancient Practice There are many different explanations on how and why it works, but the most amazing thing is that it does work and that is all you need to know.

The latest use for this ancient practice is in the field of rejuvenation. According to acupuncture advocates, you can get your body reabsorb wrinkles, splotches and other signs of aging – sounds cool, isn’t it? Unfortunately, it’s not always a matter of sticking needles into your skin – dietary changes and herbal supplements may be needed (as usual). The most common explanation is that acupuncture works by balancing Yin and Yang, the two forces that run through the whole body and can be regulated via various channels (that’s what needles are supposed to do). Because the appearance of your skin and the way you age speak volumes about your health and lifestyle, it would be only logical that maintaining the optimal function of all organs by regulating Yin and Yang will improve the way you look.

For example, according to acupuncture practitioners, acne is the result of Qi stagnation. Qi is a substance that is believed to balance Yin and Yang, so if Qi isn’t okay, you are in a real trouble and acne is only one of the signs. If you have yellowish, dull skin tone and bad skin texture, you probably suffer from poor flow of blood through your face. An experienced acupuncturist can define your problem and then selectively stimulate points on your body, producing the desired effect. So you are not only beautifying yourself, you are also improving your health and well-being.

Unfortunately, this can be quite costly, but if you can afford this it’s definitely worth a try. As always, you should be careful when looking for acupuncture clinic and make sure you check their credentials.
